DualSenseX | DS5 Windows
DualSenseX is a modern alternative to DS5Windows, with which you can connect and use your PS5 DualSense controllers on a Windows 10/11 PC. It is not only a gamepad input mapper but also virtually emulates your controller as an Xbox or DS4 controller, allowing you to play almost any game on Steam or other platforms. Its Steam version, DSX (paid), supports more controllers along with haptic feedback and Bluetooth audio support.

What is DualSenseX?
DualSenseX, also known as DSX, is an open-source application developed by Paliverse that lets you play PC games on your computer using a PS5 controller. It tricks your computer into thinking that the PS5 controller is an Xbox controller or DualShock 4 by creating a “virtual” Xbox gamepad or virtual DualShock 4 that games can recognize.
Since many PC games are built to recognize only Xbox controllers, many players prefer using PlayStation controllers because they are comfortable to hold and offer many customizable features.
In the past, before the PS5 launch, you had to install apps like DS4Windows (similar to DualSenseX) to play PC games with DS3 and DS4 controllers. Now, for PS5 controllers, DualSenseX provides different emulation functions that let you play many games with a PS5 controller.

Once you complete all these steps correctly, the tool will automatically detect the controller.

Why DualSenseX?
The PS5 DualSense controller is more advanced and powerful than the DS3 and DS4 controllers because, to use older PlayStation controllers with computers, you often have to install apps like DS4Windows so the PC can recognize those controllers as a virtual gamepad. However, the DualSense controller is different. It is a plug-and-play device, which means you can directly plug it into a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC and start playing games without the prior installation of any software.
Then, what is the need for DualSenseX? Without it, the PS5 controller works only in basic mode, while its advanced features, like adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and other customization options, remain inaccessible in many games. Moreover, many non-Steam games do not properly recognize DualSense signals because they are optimized for Xbox controllers.
Therefore, you may need this app to make the PS5 controller more compatible with PC games. After installing the software, you can use more PS5 features and customize your controller in PC games for a better gaming experience.
So why should you install DSX? Let’s read some of its features to get the answer.
Auto Startup
If your controller is connected to your PC, this app automatically connects to it every time you turn on your PC. No need for manual setup.
Flexible Emulation
The free version of DualSenseX only supports the PS5 DualSense controller, and it can emulate it as an Xbox or DualShock 4 controller.

The paid Steam version, DSX, can emulate a variety of controllers, allowing you to flexibly play games with your preferred controller. Besides DS5, DSX also supports:
- DualShock™ 4 (USB, Bluetooth, and Adapter)
- PS VR2 Sense™ Controllers (Partial Support)
- Access™ Controller (Partial Support)
- Razer™ Wolverine V2 Pro (PS5 Mode)
- Razer™ Raiju V3 Pro (PS5 Mode)
Map Keyboard
You can even play games that don’t support controllers. By using its Map Keyboard feature, your controller buttons will act like keyboard keys, and you can play games that are normally playable only with a mouse and keyboard.

Adaptive Triggers (Trigger Resistance)
This is one of the most attractive and impressive features of DualSenseX because with this, you can use the adaptive triggers of the PS5 controller. The app has different presets, from soft to rigid, so you can customize the trigger resistance according to your liking. Soft levels give you the feel of fixed trigger resistance, while rigid levels give strong resistance, although they can tire you during long gaming sessions.
Every preset is for specific games, such as resistance presets for racing games and automatic gun presets for shooting games.

Haptic Feedback Modes (Physical feedback effects)
If you opt to download the paid version, then with its different haptic modes, you can get the real-life-like feeling of sound, vibration, and button presses.
Here is what each mode does:

Customize LED Colors
With its Controller LED tab, you can fully customize the controller LED colors. For the touchpad LED, you can either choose a static color (one color at a time) or rainbow effects (transition colors) with four adjustable speeds; slow, medium, fast, and hyper.
You can even customize your mic LED by selecting on, off, or pulse modes to change its behavior during voice chat, and also change the player LED colors with different brightness levels.

Different Game Mods
With this software, you can play special game mods with your DS5. For now, only a few game mods are available, but the developers are working to add more. Here are the games and mods that you can play with special effects.
| Game Name | Mod supported by DualSense X |
|---|---|
| Cyberpunk 2077 | DualSense Adaptive Trigger Effects |
| Forza Horizon 4 and 5 | ForzaDualSense |
| Assetto Corsa | DualSenseXLink |
| GTA 5 | DualSense4GTA5 |
| Duck Game | DualSense Adaptive Triggers |
| Skyrim SE | Skyrim SE Dual Sense Adaptive Trigger |

English, French, Italian, German, Arabic, Bulgarian, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Hungarian, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Romanian, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish (Latin America), Swedish, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, Ukrainian, Greek, Japanese, Portuguese (Portugal), Vietnamese.

How Does It Work?
DualSenseX works like DS4Windows but with more advanced features. It reads your DualSense button presses and stick movements and translates them into a virtual controller that your PC can understand.
Many PC games outside Steam don’t properly recognize DualSense controllers. Windows can detect the controller, but most games only understand Xbox controller signals. So, you can’t properly play some non-Steam games because they expect an Xbox controller.
When you install this utility, you also separately install the ViGEmBus driver, which does the real magic. This driver translates the signals and creates a virtual Xbox or DualShock controller inside your system. So, when you press any button on the DualSense controller, the driver converts that signal and sends it to Windows as if it is coming from a supported or recognized controller.
It can also map your controller to keyboard and mouse inputs, so you can play many games on your computer with your DS5. Here is how this works:
- The controller’s buttons work like keyboard keys. For example, you can change your controller’s X button setting to work as the spacebar.
- The joystick works like a mouse. When you tilt the analog stick, the cursor moves on the screen.
- The triggers work like mouse clicks. For example, you can use R2 as a left-click on a mouse.
In short, with ViGEmBUS driver, this application can emulate the DS5 like an Xbox 360 controller and DualShock4, so that you can play almost any PC game. If you don’t want to emulate and just want to read the controller data within the app, you can do that too.

By customizing buttons, joysticks, and motion controls, DualSenseX makes the DS5 compatible with most PC games, whether you are playing on Steam or any other platform. It supports both connection types: USB cable and Bluetooth.

FAQs
Is DualSenseX safe?
Yes, if you download it from our website , then DualSenseX is completely safe for your system.
We have tested the download file on VirusTotal and found it 100% safe and clean.
How many DS5 controllers can I add?
Currently, you can connect only one controller with this app, but Paliverse is working on adding this feature in the future.
Does DSX only support the PS5 controller?
DSX is the advanced Steam version of DualSenseX, and besides the PS5 DualSense controller, it also supports DualSense Edge, DualShock 4, PS VR2 Sense controllers, and some Razer controllers in PS5 mode.
Do I still need DualSense X with natively supported games?
For DS5 natively supported games, you should not use this tool.
If both the game and DualSenseX try to control the buttons, they can create a conflict with each other. Your controller may start lagging or acting glitchy because it is receiving two different instructions at once.
Is the ViGEmBus driver necessary to install for running DSX?
Yes, it is necessary to install this driver.
Because of the ViGEmBus driver, DualSenseX can emulate your PS5 controller as different types of virtual controllers that your PC and games can understand.
What is the advantage of using an emulated virtual controller?
You get the following advantages by using a virtual controller.
- The very first benefit is that your computer thinks that you are using a real supported controller. For example, if you are using a PS5 controller, this app can emulate it as a virtual Xbox controller that your PC recognizes like a real one.
- But keep in mind that if any game supports a specific controller, then you should instruct the application to emulate that controller.
- By using DualSenseX, you can swap the buttons on the virtual controller that the game normally won’t let you change. This means you can bypass some game limitations and play the way you want.
There are many more benefits depending on how you customize this utility.
